This is a measure of readability used by most publishers. The higher the number, the harder it is to read. Newsweek aims for 10. Quick math on one of Ash's paragraphs was 12.7. By comparison, The Atlantic Review is a 12. Here's what Wiki says about AR... With content focusing on "foreign affairs, politics, and the economy [as well as] cultural trends", it is primarily aimed at a target audience of "thought leaders".The magazine's founders were a group of writers that included Harriet Beecher Stowe, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr., and James Russell Lowell (who would become its first editor). Even the "thought leaders" would have trouble reading an Ash post, lol.
